Sometimes, the stars align in just the right way. When planning out the special sections in the upcoming November edition of SRQ | The Magazine, we wanted to recognize local businesses that take care of others. Wouldn’t you know, November is National Caregiver and National Hospice/Palliative Care Month and Veteran’s Day is celebrated on November 11th?! There simply isn’t a better time to get the word out on the wonderful organizations and businesses that care for others—especially those that have cared for and served us.
We’re proud to include Lending A Hand to the November edition of SRQ! Businesses that serve the elderly, support caregivers and veterans are the perfect fit for Lending A Hand. This special section is a chance to salute our veterans, communicate your expert level of care for those with special needs or highlight the ways you support our community’s caregivers.
November has a lot to celebrate. We hope you’ll join us!

‘Tis the season to get ready for the holidays! Before you know it, bells will be ringing and lights will twinkle outside along the streets. As shoppers prepare their lists this November, be sure they’re ready to shop local! We’re introducing the Holidays At Home gift guide in the November 2015 edition of SRQ to promote local stores and wares for every gift giver in town.
Editorially inspired, this special section is designed with “making a list and checking it twice” in mind. Each participant will feature a product image of their choosing, a brief section of copy (enticing buyers to get the perfect gift at their shop), and contact information (a great way to share your holiday hours!).
Options are available for full, half and quarter pages. We hope you’ll join us for a holiday shopping experience like none other! And since Holidays At Home is brought to shoppers by the same people delivering the very best ways to live local every month, we know they’ll be ready to gift fabulous finds from the Gulf Coast to everyone on their list.

Earlier this month, we announced new columnists
joining the the weekend edition of SRQ Daily. They are local influencers in various fields with a finger on the pulse of our community. We know that in order to live local
, it is important to listen and learn local, as well. These columnists are sharing their thoughts, views and musings on the issues facing our community and ways to make it even better.
Today, we’re happy to announce two more guest columnists that are joining the roster! Ian Black is the owner of Ian Black Real Estate. He is a longtime advocate for a strong business environment along the Gulf Coast. Diana Hamilton is no stranger to SRQ Daily. A previous guest columnist, Diana has worked tirelessly as an activist in Sarasota and has just returned to the area a hiatus since the Spring. Both monthly columns will run on the first Saturday of each month.

This week, we are participating in something incredibly awesome, the Good Wheels program by Goodwill Manasota. As a master of partnership in our community, Goodwill is pairing up to raise money and awareness for another worthy organization, Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. This week, members of the SRQ Media team are putting the pedals to the metal to help contribute to these amazing causes.
But guess what? You can, too! Stop by our offices this Thursday and Friday (August 20th and 21st) to pedal for a cause and raise funds. As part of a generous contribution from The Patterson Foundation, each new online donor’s gift to Good Wheels will be matched (up to $250 per donor, per organization). Your donation can do twice the amount of good when you give.
We’re inviting you – the friends of SRQ to come by and support us as we ride to raise funds for this worthy cause.
We’ll enjoy beer and wine at our office for the peddlers, spectators and donors. Who needs happy hour when you can join us and burn off a few of the day’s calories AND give back to a great cause? Anyone wanting to drop by our office to pedal or make a pledge that will assist in delivering hot meals to those in our community are welcome!
We hope you’ll join us!
