The Gulf Coast skyline is bustling—from Sarasota to Bradenton. As cranes amble high above and the streets are filled with the productive sounds of construction, we are thinking forward to the ways these new structures will enhance our region. Of course, we’re already looking daydreaming about the ways these new structures will encourage us to live local; whether through new restaurants and retail, breathtaking hotel views, or by attracting visitors and residents to the area. To celebrate these new structures, we’re launching an extension of our popular annual home competition and calling it SRQ Building of the Year!
We’re ready to take an in-depth look at the new buildings that are well on their way to gracing our streets by introducing them to our loyal readers. Buildings that have broken ground, are under construction or have been realized between January 2014 and December 2015 are eligible to submit. Registration is open now for the following categories:
- Residential Building or Complex
- Commercial Building (includes Hotels)
- Mixed Use Building
- Public Building or Public Space
- Sustainable Building
All entries will be judged by an out-of-market panel of experts on function, aesthetics, originality of concept, architecture, implementation and usability. This is your chance to tell-all on what these gorgeous new buildings are all about: what purpose they’ll serve, how they’ll change our region for the better and all describe all of the structural and design details that make it great. We’ve got a few plans up our sleeve to get the community involved in the voting process for a special People’s Choice award and can’t wait to see which structure will be the crowd favorite!
The winners of each category will be announced in the November 2015 edition of SRQ | The Magazine in a special awards section. What better way to announce yourself to the neighborhood than winning a category in this new competition? Consider this the grand ribbon cutting event of 2015 and the best way to introduce your building to our loyal readers.
Call for entries is officially open now through August 20, 2015. Late registration will be available through September 2, 2015. To enter or to find out more information, visit our website.
Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood!
